Mediastinal Mass as a Prognostic Factor of Hodgkin Lymphoma – Case Review

چکیده
Many studies have researched the prognostic factors of Hodgkin disease. Up date, seven most important prognostic factors have been defined. Among them, as an important negative prognostic factor, the dissemination of the disease at the moment of diagnosis stands out. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of the presence of mediastinal mass greater than a third of the chest diameter in Hodgkin lymphoma on the disease outcome. In this study, an 18-year-old patient P.A. was presented. At the time of diagnosis, the patient had Bulky disease. Mediastinal mass was observed by radiography, computed tomography, ultrasound of the heart. The patient was treated with ABVD, GDP, BEACOPP, miniBEAM protocol and mediastinal radiation. In this patient, the mediastinal mass persisted in spite of the therapy. The course of disease deteriorated due to the presence of resistant pericardial effusion, and the patient died three years after. Acta Medica Medianae 2008;47(4):25-28.

The significance of a residual mediastinal mass following treatment for aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphomas.
The chest radiographs of 252 patients with aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, prospectively treated according to one of three protocols of combination chemotherapy, were reviewed to determine the incidence and prognostic significance of mediastinal abnormalities following treatment. Residual mediastinal masses were defined as any abnormality, greater than 2 cm in diameter, that had initially re...

Mediastinal disease is a frequent clinical presentation in children with Hodgkin lymphoma. It is usually due to mediastinal lymphadenopathy or involvement of the thymus gland. Cystic lymphangiomas are benign tumors of the lymphatic system, and less than 1% present as a solitary mediastinal mass. To our knowledge, there has been no report in the literature describing Hodgkin lymphoma arising fro...

Introduction: Central mucoepidermoid carcinoma (CMEC) is a rare primary intraosseous bony lesion. The mandible is more commonly affected than the maxilla. CMEC is frequently misdiagnosed radiographically and clinically as a benign odontogenic tumor or cyst. Case Presentation: We present a rare case with a secondary malignant neoplasm. A male patient was initially diagnosed with B-cell non-Hodg...

Non-necrotic epithelioid granulomas have been reported in association with neoplasms including Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. We report a case of diffuse large B cell lymphoma with chronic granulomatous inflammation to highlight awareness of obscure tumour cells within the granuloma, to avoid delay in diagnosis and management of lymphoma. A 39-year-old Malay lady with no past medical history...
